Mohawk & Buddha

Aidan got a new hairdo today. After a year of enduring squirmy scissor cuts that grow out too fast, we decided to take the plunge and ask Miss Teresa to use clippers on his hair. He did surprisingly well. There was only a minimum of squirming and fussing, and it was over with in half the time. And, as you can see from the picture, it can be gelled up into a little faux-hawk, which his Daddy loves. He looks like such a tough guy in his picture. He didn't want me taking it. Also, for anyone curious about the greenish bruise he's sporting on his forehead, that was acquired in a fashion surprisingly similar to the one that left him the Harry Potter scar. He was running out of the bathroom, tripped over his own two feet, and bonked his head on the floor. I was relieved to see that there was no blood this time, and the hysteria that ensued was minimal. I felt like I'd made a narrow escape.

And to be an equal opportunity blogger, here's a picture of my little Buddha after her bath the other night. She's got quite a little belly on her now, but we love it. She's grinning, because she loves to be naked.

T-Shirts

Thanks to Auntie Jamie, the kiddos got some new t-shirts in the mail a couple of days ago. She was worried that they'd be too big, but cuff the sleeves a little and voila! They'll be getting much more wear out of them than she expected! Anyway, they're super-cute, and they came from Baby Bot. Aidan's says Big Brother (coolest), and Neely's says Little Sister (Cutest). Here are some pictures of them wearing their fun new shirts!

Picture tag!

Here are the instructions: Go to the place where you store all of your pictures on your computer and open up the 4th folder. Open the 4th picture. Post the picture and give an explanation. Tag 4 people!

Here we have Aidan, a few weeks ago, wearing a mismatched pair of my socks. He hunted them up and put them on all by himself. I took a picture because I thought it was funny.

And now, I will tag Stef, Annie B, Jamie, and Kelly.

Wacky Sleeper

Neely has started sleeping in all kinds of crazy positions lately, so I snapped a picture of one while she was napping this afternoon. It looks like her neck should be really sore when she wakes up from this one.

Oh, bows

Anybody else notice a similarity?

For Granny...

Daddy told Granny on the phone yesterday that Mommy would post this video of Aidan. So here it is, for all to see, my son scaling my kitchen counters to get a cup...and tell me what color it is in SPANISH, for crying out loud. Auntie Maggie will be proud (of the Spanish, that is). Daddy is proud of the climbing, I think.

Bath Day

I got a whim to take pictures of Neely post-bath the other night. I'm not sure why. Probably because naked babies, especially those wrapped in frog towels named Neely, are so cute! She smelled really good, too.

Baby Stats

Neely had her four month doctor's visit yesterday, and I wanted to post up her measurements for grandmas and grandpas and anyone else who cares before I forget about it. She is now 12 pounds, 7 ounces, still 24 inches long (the nurse thinks she was probably measured incorrectly the last time), and her head is 41 centimeters. Centimeters? That's what she wrote it on the paper as. I have no idea what that translates to in inches. I was told she's in about the 50th percentile for her length and the 30th for her weight. And her head? Hang on...I'm having to look this part up myself...Baby Center says between percentile 25 and 50. There you go.

What's better than a cute baby?

Two cute babies! Stephanie and Madeline came to visit us for a few days, so of course, I had to get some pictures of Neely and Maddie together for the first time. Beautiful, beautiful girls.

[You didn't want that hand, did you? Let me take care of it for you.]

Testing...

Let's see if this works. I finally have a computer that recognizes my video camera connected to the internet. And I'm posting a video! Taking it for a test drive, if you will.

30 Minute Meal

...so the other night, I decided to try fixing something new and healthy-ish for supper. My mom has made it before, and it was super yummy. It's Rachael Ray's Chile Relleno and Green Rice recipe from the Food Network. 30 Minute Meal? Yeah, right. Stephanie was in town, so there were two of us chopping and cooking, and it took us two hours. Two hours! I'm pretty sure it's impossible to make this meal in 30 minutes. The actual cooking time of everything was less than half an hour, but you have to be a super chopper to get all the prep work done in the other five minutes. Sheesh!

I will say this, it still tasted fabulous, so that's good.

Gymnastics

Aidan started a gymnastics class today. There are four kids in the class, all about his age, and boy, was it funny to watch. They started out by stretching on the floor a little. Aidan had a hard time sitting in one place. He'd sit down, participate a little, do a lap around the room, sit back down, participate a little more, etc. The next thing they did was an obstacle course. They ran up a little ramp, jumped off, ducked under a bar, ran around the room, and then crawled under a little tunnel. Aidan was literally lapping the other kids. For each one of their times through, he'd do three. Next up, the balance beam. He did pretty awesome with this. They did it forwards, backwards, and sideways. Backwards was a little iffy, but he sped through the others. Again, I think he hopped up on the thing in between each of the other kids and did it way more times than everybody else. Next they did pencil rolls and forward rolls down a little inclined mat. This was not quite as interesting to Aidan. Then, the kids swung from a low bar, hung from it like a possum, and then hung from it like a bat. Aidan didn't want to do the bat at first. He told the teacher, "Bats are scary." Next were the headstands. Of course, they had to have lots of help with this, but it was entertaining to watch. The grand finale was the trampoline. Aidan really loves jumping on the trampoline. He wore himself flat out. He'd better take an awesome nap today. Hooray for gymnastics!

New Year Recap

Here we all are...playing games and roasting marshmallows until midnight, and ringing in the new year with family.

Christmas Recap

Rather than type and type and type about the nearly two weeks that we spent at home, I've decided that I'll just summarize our trip in photos. It'll probably be easier to stomach that way...and hopefully faster to post!

I don't want to take a picture with my sister!

The good version of that last picture.

A pretty little girl in her first Christmas dress.

Aidan watches his Papa read the Christmas story.

My two cuties in their matching pj's.

Aidan loves trains.

And Neely loves her first bracelet.
