Who gave this kid stickers?

The kids went to the doctor yesterday. Aidan received vaccinations, so he was given stickers as a reward. Where did they end up?

Here.

On the side of my bookcase. He did this last night, and I somehow managed not to notice until half an hour ago. It was enough to give me heart palpitations. Don't worry, though. They came off nice and easy, leaving nothing behind. Otherwise, you wouldn't be seeing these photos. And I might be putting Aidan in a trash bag and taking him to someone who likes him. (Sorry, random Facebook status reference. Aidan said this to John as an insult yesterday evening.)

Also, please ignore the general messiness and random pants on the ground. (Lookin' like a fool with your pants on the ground...) My son doesn't prefer to wear clothes.

Goodwill Treasure

A couple of weeks ago, in an effort to kill some time, I wandered into the local Goodwill. I stumbled upon this great magazine/book rack for $6.99...and it looked pretty good. I couldn't let it get away.

Here she is...

A week later, I was showing my treasure to a friend and noticed this:

Pottery Barn Kids. Are you kidding me? I got this for $6.99? Amazing.

On Saturday morning, before it got cold and snowed (?!?!), I set up shop in the driveway to paint it. I did a lazy person's sanding job, and then I taped it off. I had decided that getting behind those dowels to paint the bead board would be next to impossible, not to mention the fact that I'd probably want to gouge my eyes out with the paintbrush by the time the job was done, so I left that part white.

Here it is after the first coat. I know what you're thinking - aaack! I thought the same thing. I'm not sure why I was surprised by the Smurfy blueness of it. It matches the paint in the can exactly. The more I look at it, the more I like it, though.

Also, please do not judge my by the random paraphernalia I had to use to hold my drop cloth down. It was super windy.

This is what the rack looks like after two coats, sanded back down a little bit, and hanging in my tiny, tiny stark white bathroom. The weird photo is me trying to give a point of reference. I hung it over the toilet. Magazine rack, toilet, makes sense to me. Anyway, it looks a little nekkid. Let's fix that.

Ta-da! Sorry, fellas. No man literature here. You'll have to venture upstairs for that. And yes, Mom, that's your magazine on the bottom shelf. I don't know if you meant to leave it here, but you now know where it is if you'd like to retrieve it. :)

Singing

I'm a little video happy this weekend. This one is of Neely in her pretty green dress on St. Patrick's Day, with the barrette she stole from me in her hair, singing. I love to hear my little girl sing. She sang for a good five minutes in the car this morning. The song isn't always decipherable, but it's adorable. In this clip, she starts with Beaker's version of "Ode to Joy" and moves on to the clean-up song. We were picking up toys and singing the clean-up song when I snagged the camera. When I ask her to sing, she defaults to Beaker for some reason. She gets back on task at the end of the video.

Chores?

My Neely is becoming quite the little helper. She loves to unload the flatware. This can be a problem when the dishes are dirty, but otherwise, it's sweet. She even thanks me each time she hands me a new piece.

Oh, and that's They Might Be Giants' song Nine Bowls of Soup from Here Come the 123's playing in the background. :)

Kid Pics

I'd like to share a few post-bath pics from the other night. John put Neely's hair in a mohawk, and I couldn't help but to run for the camera. And when my half-naked babies started playing, it just got even cuter.

There's no need to fear!

I made another one of these adorable twirly skirts this weekend for Stephanie's daughter, Madeline. I went out on a limb and decided to try black for her monogrammed t-shirt. I'll be honest, I was scared. I mean, yes, the whole color theme of the skirt is black, white, and pink, but a black monogram? I couldn't imagine it, so I just did it. If I hated it, I'd make another with one of my more tried-and-true colors.

As it turns out, I love it! I'm glad I decided to be brave.

Have I mentioned before that my kids love watching old Muppets clips on You Tube? We found this one today.

Twirly Outfit

Here's another sample from the batch of things I'm making to sell at the consignment shop. I love, love, love this one. I'd wear it myself if I could.

And FYI: I'm linking up to DIY Day over at A Soft Place to Land.
